I found Moses on the side of a busy 4 lane highway in November of 2006. His owners, finally called many days after I found him, asked if I wanted him. Of course, I said yes. He became my constant companion and friend. Mellow, loving, and very easy to please, Moses was my best buddy - a special, special dog. He was diagnosed in November of 2007 with bone cancer. Although he was kept comfortable with pain medication for a while, on December 29, 2007, it was time to let him go. All dogs are special, but some can be more special than others. That would be my Moses. The best of the best. He is sorely missed.
Our thanks to Lori Jacke for this Memorial Tribute to "Moses"
June 2000 - November 19, 2007
Red (aka Lil'Red) started his life as a feral kitten in the old recycling building downtown. I spent many days and nights trapping his relatives and bringing them into the Animal Clinic to be spayed or neutered and then finding homes for them. Red had a bowel problem and it was suggested that I put him down. I just couldn't . . . he had so much personality and I felt, a will to live life. Even though I knew he would probably not live to a ripe old age, I couldn't give up on him. He went through a lot, but he had many wonderful days and I thank Dr. Barkemeyer so much for going that extra mile to find a medicine that greatly improved his life. His greatest joy was going out in the yard and hunting grasshoppers and butterflies. He also loved our hound dogs and would lie in the sun with Henry on lazy afternoons. I miss him terribly. He was my baby. This was my favorite picture of him...he was happy and content. The receptionist at the Animal Center, Becky, always asked about him and I appreciated her remembering him. I hope he is playing in a field somewhere, across the Rainbow Bridge, free of pain and diapers and happy.
Our thanks to Becky George for Red's Memorial Tribute
Saks was a shelter dog with whom we had the privilege of sharing the last 2 years of her life. She came to us depressed after losing her owner but soon found out it was a pretty fun place to live. She loved romping in the woods at our cabin on the river and made fast friends with our 120 pound Doberman cross. We miss her still but are grateful for the joy she brought to us every day that she was with us. We thank Dr. Barkemeyer for this memorial tribute.
